Was Kale the Most Over Rated Super Food
Yet another year dashes us by, and now we can take the opportunity look back and see what food trended worldwide in 2014. With the power of the internet, it’s very easy to make fabricated claims about almost anything. On this particular occasion, I am referring to a specific super food that seems to be “not as super” as what many people may have been lead to believe – namely kale. Desperate people tend to have faith in what they’ve read, and on some occasions, opportunistic people grab the chance to capitalise accordingly.
Kale is a vegetable that has greenish / purplish leaves. In 2014, everyone thought that kale was a super food and that kale is, in fact, very healthy. Celebrities like Gwyneth Paltrow, Jennifer Aniston, and Kevin Bacon are proud advocates of kale. Even the Obama’s are proud kale lovers too. From kale chips to kale salads, and everyone is buzzing about it and not paying attention to its contrary effects.
Adversative Effects of Kale on Livestock
Scientists have performed studies on kale and found that it has some horrific effects on individual farm animals. They dug a little deeper into the obtained data and discovered that daily consumption of kale blocks a number of vital body functions resulting in various sicknesses.
Dark Side of Kale
Research studies found that cows that consume kale transferred its poisons through their milk and may effect children who drank that milk from the concerned cows. It effects certain areas of development of the children.
Kale is high in Vitamin K, and it may promote blood clotting in people that are on certain medications. The dark green colour of kale contains properties that have adverse affects on some bodily functions.
Eating a raw kale is a big NO NO simply because it’s not good for our digestive system and may cause bloating and some other abdominal issues. Also, most kale in the marketplace are sprayed with pesticides, and no one likes to eat pesticides.
Just Don’t Overdo It Now Will You
Kale has a lot of good sides just like any other vegetables and fruits. But if you overdo eating kale it has some not so good effects as well. You can’t just hinge on an individual food source to be healthy. The truth is that you require a variety of food, vegetables and fruits to be able to achieve a healthy lifestyle. Kale does not work miraculously and make you become healthy with a snap of your finger. To be able to achieve your desired level of health it needs a lot of work and determination.
Do the Research First
Before jumping to the conclusion that kale is a super food, perform your own research. You can find an abundance of information regarding it via various means. Be open-minded and think outside of the box. Try to balance the pros and cons of it. Remember if it’s too good to be true then it more than likely is not true.
